About
Who are we?
The site sheilot.com is a project of the charity organization "Behira Ledorot" (#580672749)
The goal of the project is to answer questions online from people both in Israel and abroad. There are many dubious sites on the Internet where unqualified people who call themselves rabbis answer questions. Often their answers are completely wrong. So we turned to the beit ora'ah of Rav Amram Fried, one of the greatest rabbis of our time. The rabbis there responded to our request and agreed to answer questions based on the rulings of Rav Amram Fried.
We send questions to competent rabbis, and if necessary to Rabbi Amram Fried himself, and then send their answers to the questioners.
The purpose of Beit Ora'ah is to enable every Jew, wherever and in whatever situation he may be, to resolve any halachic doubts and receive proper guidance if he encounters problems, so that he can properly fulfill his task in this world. Every Jew will have the opportunity to learn how best to grow spiritually precisely through the test that is presented to him.
We would like to emphasize that it would be best to ask questions to a rabbi in person. However, if this is not possible for one reason or another, our website will help you to understand the problem as effectively as possible.
According to our mentor, the Internet can only be used with the permission of a rabbi and only for earning money.
Halachic Answers
The goal of our site is to provide answers on Jewish law to anyone, wherever they are, in several languages. We provide advice on topics such as finances, marriage, kashrut, Shabbat, laws of family purity, holidays, laws of mourning, etc.
Questions are divided into topics and sent to the rabbis in Rav Amram Fried's Beit Ora'ah who specialize in a particular topic. If necessary, the question is asked directly to the rabbi.
The rabbinical team is led by R. Yisrael Cohen (Beit Oraa of Congregation Sderot Yechezkel, Modiin Illit, and Beit Oraa Chanichei HaYeshivot Mizrach Brachfeld) and R. Yehuda Sturtz (Beit Oraa Chanichei HaYeshivot Mizrach Brachfeld, Beit Oraa Neot Simcha, Modiin Illit). They have many years of experience answering questions on Jewish law online.
Spreading the Torah
In addition to a large database of answers to questions on Jewish law, our site has another goal - to tell people about the Torah in understandable language.
The site contains articles on a variety of halachic topics from all sections of the Shulchan Aruch and notes on weekly chapters, as well as reports on current news from the world of Jewish law.
Our goal is to bring the light of Torah to Jews in Israel and beyond and to answer a wide variety of questions from people around the world and in any life situation.
For Jews of the Diaspora
A separate goal is to provide halachic advice to Jews scattered throughout the world.
To this end, rabbis and influential community representatives in the post-Soviet space and South America are translating the answers into the languages spoken by Jews in the Diaspora.
We strive to make our answers available in all languages of the Diaspora so that all Jews can read them in their own language.
We are impressed and pleased by the number of questions from Jews living outside of Israel who want to receive a clear answer to a halachic question that interests them in order to carefully fulfill this or that commandment of the Almighty.
Future Rabbis
Our mentor Rav Amram Fried's Beit Ora'ah trains dozens of rabbis for practical work and receives hundreds of questions a day. Thanks to our mentor's exceptional and comprehensive knowledge of all areas of halacha, we receive numerous questions daily and at any time of the day via phone and app. This allows rabbis to gain experience from one of the most significant rabbis of our time and to study various areas of Jewish law in real time.
